We are both active but I'm not looking for a workout. We want to use it for entertainment. What are the cool games and what's needed for them? Any other advice would be appreciated.

What kind of games do you like or do you even have experience with video games? Bundled Wii-Sports is fun thing to start with anyway if you are a n00b to gaming.

My total experience with home video gaming is a PS2. I'm looking at the surfing and skateboarding as maybe a bit more active than I'd like but I'm not discounting it because of the flexibility the device requires would keep me limber. Are the driving games pretty good? All my PS2 games were sports.

don't get a bundle unless you really like the games they come with
like maza said, wii sports is included, but you should also pick up wii play because it comes with a second controller.
you'll also want to buy a second nunchuck
