Hey all
The PA2V2 seems like a popular, cheap amp. How is the sound quality and is there anything better in its price range?

It's quite good

It was my first ever headphone amp it is was pretty darn good. Gary is an awesome guy to deal with and the amp sounds warm and I was pretty impressed.

For the price, you could go with the Icon Mobile ($30 more), but it does come with a USB DAC. And you can try Hotaudio40 amps/DACs, they're also pretty good (about $20 more).

Beyond that, there really isn't anything else that I can think of.

I love it... I use it with an ipod classic exclusively. I plugged my headphones into my iphone the other day and was shocked at how crappy it sounded without the little amp. I guess my ears have become used to the sound.

I recently decided to buy my first portable headphone amp and came to the conclusion that the PA2V2 was the best choice in the price range I wanted. Gary answered my questions quickly and and I ordered the amp a couple days ago. I can't wait to give it a try. Also, as many have mentioned, Gary is a pleasure to do business with.

As everyone has already mentioned Gary is incredibly friendly and great to deal with. He answered all of my questions. I put my PA2V2 with my Clip+ (Rockboxed) and Ultrasone Pro 900. It sounds really great and there is a noticeable SQ improvement - especially in the bass. It has a warm presentation which some like and some don't.

What's your source, broski?

Edit: One issue though. The cable that Gary sent me stopped working properly within a few weeks. So I ordered another cable from Headroom (a 4 inch mini to mini right angled on each end). So basically I bought the amp and spent money on the cable too. I don't know if that is a reason not to get the amp though. I mean, it is a great amp and Gary offers it for a killer price.

The last price I heard Gary sold the PA2V2 for was US$60 shipped.. Does he still sell it for that price or is it higher now?

Well, I believe it is listed at $65 but he sold it to me for $55 because I live fairly close to him and therefore the shipping costs were a lot lower. Regardless, I would have paid $80 and would of been happy.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I was wondering if anyone has heard the Etymotic HF3 with the PA2V2.  I am considering it for my first headphone amp.
