Thanks for the impressions. I still don't notice the Lyr's extra dynamic, but that's probably just me (I know what clipping sounds like on speakers but maybe not on phones). Your impressions of the LCD were exactly mine when I first got them. Interestingly different rather than outstanding was my first reaction. But after a few hours I was starting to think "wow". It's just grown from there.
And ironically the LCD2 have made me appreciate head fi and take it more seriously. I started listening to my ageing Lambda-Pro again, and added a beyerdynamic to my grados. The LCD2 is definitely my 90% "go to" 'phone, but now I appreciate having a palette of 'phones, amps, some tubes and two soon three dacs to choose from. Like you, I'm waiting for a bifrost.
Cheers!

I just felt like the lcd did nothing really wrong. contrary to the prior statement, I sort of felt that there was nothing about the lcd that time and time again wowed me about its presentation. it was just damn good all round. Comfort wise, i loved how the lcd fit, the rev 2 padding and overall feel on-head was wonderful, the clamp is just right for me and i love the feel of the distance between my ears and the driver. I'm not sure what else to add since I really didnt have that much head time with them. I'm sure we'll be meeting again soon once my bifrost gets here and we'll all listen a bit longer.

I don't find my LCD-2 uncomfortable but there is no comparison for me, the HD800 is the King of Comfort.

I understand his point about LCD-2's and their comfort eventhough I disagree with his viewpoint.
I have a huge head ( had to get a special helmet made when I played football in Florida) and the first few sessions with the LCD-2's made my jaw sore but after that they melt into my head so it becomes quite comfortable. I know more comfortable headphones are out there and I use them for gaming, HD598 and AD700's.
Of course I think he is referring to his Stax 009 that he always highly recommends despite the fact that most people have a hard time affording them, let alone the amp needed to make them sound good. I envy his ability to afford all the fancy things that he has but sometimes I think we misunderstand his statements, maybe because of a language barrier, as a type of pissing contest where someone can show off what they have.
Rather than being offended, take what he says with a grain of salt and not let things get personal.
I don't post often but it seems to be a cycle with googleli's comments in this thread and it gets kind of redundant.post #18396 of 1845910/3/11 at 8:18am- googleli

The SR009 is actually less comfortable than the ED10. No headphone I have worn has the comfort of the ED10, but of course you need to be able to withstand its sound first.. In terms of comfort I would say ED10 >>> SR009 >>>>>>>>>>>> LCD-2.post #18397 of 1845910/3/11 at 10:24am- sphinxvc

Agreed, I simply think he's being objective but it apparently offends some people to have anyone derail or temper the LCD-2 hype train. I'm not sure which moderator it ticked off but now the poor guy's even got that ridiculous moniker plastered to his forehead. Chill y'all.

I find it tiresome to keep reading by some, that because a number of people really enjoy to the LCD-2 that this is a hyped thread. There seems to be a consensus that many people like what they are hearing and by labeling this as hype, seems a measure to try and devalue what they are expressing and by that invalidating their opinion. I find the LCD-2 to be extremely enjoyable to listen to and as far as comfort, while they aren't the most comfortable, I don't find them uncomfortable.
post #18399 of 1845910/3/11 at 11:00amI find the LCD-2s quite comfortable whether sitting, standing or moving around. (Ten-foot cord from Norse.) If you're considering these phones, don't be skeered. Try 'em.
Oh, and Googleli, it should be "Worships AT the altar of the SR-009." You aren't honoring the furniture, but the phones.

+1 for the LCD-2 R2 for not been an uncomfortable headphone.
I can listen to it for many hours and I have a decently large head (on the second last notch).
No issues since day one of use.
Not HD600 comfortable but still good to me.

That is taking it a bit far. I think what we're referring to are the hyperbole statements; not general praise (which is well deserved for this HP).post #18402 of 1845910/3/11 at 12:04pm- jamato8

Quote:I guess that for me what some may consider to be hyperbole by some is an opinion expressed and possibly is just the way the individual states their feeling about the phone and I see no reason to devalue. Anyone has a right to express a differing opinion and anyone can filter through the statements. I have read a number of times in this thread that the LCD-2 are being hyped and I stick by my opinion of this and do not see my opinion of this as taking anything too far.

There is a difference between stating legitimate criticism and being confrontational just for the sake of confrontation. Nowadays I get the impression that person is here just to show off how awesome is his SR-009 which is frankly, getting really tiresome.

Nah, the guy's an immature troll. One of the posts made it clear he was baiting. Unfortunately no one quoted it before the subsequent edit.post #18405 of 1845910/3/11 at 2:33pm- sphinxvc

I simply meant it's taking it a bit far to say people are trying to devalue or invalidate other's opinions. I certainly wasn't.
