if you wear it constantly, do you still need to apply oils?

Hmm...could be several reasons the wine might have affected your listening experience

  1. the wine was applied to the LCD2 - very bad IMHO
  2. the wine was applied to your ears - fixable
  3. the wine was applied internally - no problem, except this usually enhances my listening experience. YMMV

Seriously though, do you notice any difference between the two pairs? In normal use...

couldn't replicate that feeling afterwards, may have been the wine.

Dig this.  I'm A/B listening to DSOTM MFSL gold disc vs. new remaster CD.  No contest the MFSL wins: better bass impact and overall just sounds better.  I'll take that but it is just wrong.  Supposedly the Blu-ray is the end all but I've yet to hear that.  Hopefully by next week.  I digress.  Set the LCD2 rev2's on my lap while Floyd is playing and I hear a mini sound stage going on around me from the LC's!

Thanks for the replies.  In the process of picking up a rev 1 and remembered the whole hifiman debacle and wondered if similar issues surrounded these phones.  Looks like I have nothing to worry about.

Well.... These are getting ordered tomorrow. As I'm in the uk I'm bot sure if the supplier will actually have them in stock, or whether they'll have to be ordered in. The comment about the supplier having to order in bulk suggests te former!smily_headphones1.gif

There's probably some way of using the LCD-2 as a microphone, or microphones - a stereo pairing.
