hahaha...you mean not sure YOU need the HE-5

Now you know why I feel like I don't need the HE-5 when I have the ID-1

Now I hope the Audeze chaps are listneing...guys please please don't seal the cups..do make the LCD-2 so it can be damped and tuned by the end user if they so choose to.

Big downer that the HE-5 can't be...but am hoping the LCD-2 doesn't share this design flaw.

I would like an enclosed spring also...they get layed on something they shouldn't and ...SCRAPE....ugh!!

I don't think it is a finalized version however. Or so I have been told, perhaps it might have clothes put on it...!

Probably making my first leap into the ortho-world soon. I do have experience with Fostex phones, probably the 40T's, not sure, but only in studio conditions used as monitors.

I'm anxiously waiting for the stand off between the LCD-2's and HE-5's

A big thanks to you who leap forward and give us impressions, especially achristilaw, who seems to have both on hand for a true comparison in near future

I think I might also be jumping in for a comparison once the LCD-2 is available and the HE-5 is back in stock, so probably early December by the time they're burned in and ready to review.

The upper mids/low treble don't look too neutral though (?).

Don't make the mistake of calling an otrthodynamic a *spit* "dynamic"..else the ortho nijas will be after ya!!

Orthos are a lot closer to electrostats in principle.

There is a slight dip in the highs around 14-15kHz but that is not too bad..if the graphs are to be believed that is quite amazing what they have achieved.

The mids are actually about 2-3 dB above the lower mids which is fine..gives the rich fuller sound as the music content is concentrated in that region..will bring the vocals tad forward...very much to the liking of most if not all.

I am praying that this will be the end game headphone for me..can't wait to own/listen to it.
