More Memory. I need it.

I love all kinds of music and very much enjoy variety.

The problem with that is I usually have to sacrifice quantity for quality when loading up a DAP.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a quality DAP with MASSIVE amounts of memory?

ipod classic 160gig.

I also have the 160GB Classic, and its fantastic being able to transfer entire albums in WAV format onto it - wouldnt dream of doing that with another player. Whether you like the sound sig is something else again.

I messed around with ALAC - its OK for the younger kids, but there's nothing like the Real Thing. All 50MB at a time.

A little on the bigger side, Archos has a 320gb model.

iRiver Hxxx or Gigabeat F Series with a HDD mod + Rockbox. A bit of a DIY, but worth it just for FLAC support. (I own the latter - a nice alternative to the Zune / iPod line).

Another alternatiive - iPod 5G 80GB with Rockbox, LOD and possibly a drive upgrade. I read that you can get Rockbox to support a 240GB 1.8" drive, if compilied correctly.

+1 on FLAC

I have a Sansa Fuze, but I get tired of 'hot swapping' memory cards to listen to different music.

Using ALAC there is no quality loss in comparison to WAV, it's smaller and you get to embed tags. Using WAV nowadays is just being daft IMHO

I second the Zune 120 for the sound improvement over the 160gb classic.

That was really funny That's what I want. I want CD images be sent via USB3 or WIFI! ... but first, I am affraid, after dealing with MP3s and AACs now, we must deal with the FLAC and ALAC kind for a while. If you have a quad core, it is not such a big deal
