Phillies vs Yankees - Page 3

lee was untouchable last night. if he pitches like that his next start, which is possible considering how good he has been in the playoffs, you have to think the yankees chances are remote. the yankees have the better no. 2 & 3 starters, so sabathia needs to get the job done next time out.

Burnett really pitched a good game tonight. Nice to see Tex finally get a run tonight too. Can't wait to see Pettite in Game 3!

One for the Yankees. Pedro did all he was asked but Burnett stopped the Phillies, who looked at way too many pitches (or was fooled). We'll see how it goes at the Bank.

Burnett had good stuff. not as exciting to watch as Lee, who's got a showier repertoire.. but he was still lights out.

never liked Pedro, so it's always nice to see him lose.

3-1 Yankees. Philly was in their groove tonight...hitting A-Rod for the third time this series.

The teams that I least wanted to see in the World Series:

1) Phillies since they won last year
2) Yankees because I am a Red Sox fan - I'll be honest - I just don't like the Yankees

I would have loved to have seen either the Angels or the Dodgers (or both) in the WS (originally from LA burbs).

The good news is that I am getting caught up on a lot more work than I would have if any other team was in the WS.

giants lost to eagles today but yanks made it up and more!

Hopefully Lee can send this game back to NY tonight. My rooting interest is for a long series. I'm not very confident now.

tonight should be a good match up. lot of pressure on lee. even if the phils win tonight, it's not like lee can pitch either of the two next games. the yanks have got to feel good right now.

why didn't cliff lee pitch last night? He's the hottest pitcher they got, why not have him play last night and then have him potentially pitch a third time for game 7? now they're down 3-1 and we'll only see him one more time in the series. :\

my guess is because he threw 126 pitches in game one, his arm was still slightly gelatinous.

and my other guess is that if he pitches tomorrow, and the Phils are lucky enough to make it to game 7, you may see Lee come in for mid-late relief duty if necessary.

Also I read that Lee has never pitched on three days rest. After a heavy workload, why risk it? The Phillies had their shot in that game regardless.

Hate both teams because Im a Mets fan, but Im rooting for the Yanks because Philly fans are slightly more obnoxious than Yankee fans.

actually, i think my favorite part about this World Series is that it aggravates the Mets fans.
