Will it make any difference if I get a line out to my amp

Hi,
I'm currently using my iPod as source through a little dot I+ amp with grado sr225i phones. The iPod is connected to the amp via the 3.5mm output to RCA on the amp.

I'm just wondering if I'll notice any difference with a line out to RCA?

Thanks.

Yes, a pretty big one too. When you're connected through the HP - out, the signal is already amplified, giving you dual amplification, which is a no-no.

Good Luck

Plus you won't have your volume up to max or near max when you disconnect it from your amp and then plug in your headphones.

I got a LOD and to tell you the truth I listen to it in the car mostly and there is not much difference sound wise between the HO and the LOD (7gen iPod).

But not blasting my ears off when forgetting to dial down the volume before using headphones is a big plus for using LOD.

Seems like you have to be pretty careful how you handle the ipod with an LOD and a cable sticking out from it. That's a lot of stuff to inadvertantly mess up the motherboard at the plug. I always connect the LOD into the ipod after connecting the cable first. Heard something snap a bit when I forst got the LOD and connected the cable to the LOD after I had put it into the iPod. Now the LOD seems a bit loose but that might be me being paranoid. Everyrhing works which is the main thing.

The only reason I'd buy it is for a increase in sound quality or perhaps a much better battery life.

I thought this would be the case but I don't remember much of a difference when I tried both the normal output on my soundcard and the amplified headphone output. I'll have to try it again now that I'm more used to the headphones. What is your setup?
