Ya, most people tend to assicate metal with bands like Lamb Of God, which just annoys me... hence why I pointed it out. Ya, I didn't like harsh vocals at first either, first time I heard them I just thought wtf, but since then they've really grown on me. It might help if you read along to the lyrics in songs that have harsh vocals in them.
I recomened them above, but I'll say it again-- check out Kill switch engages newest album, as daylight dies, has a decent mix of both vocals styles, and the guy has really good clean singing voice. You also might want to check out Demon Hunter(mainly their newer stuff, two newest albums for the best mix of vocals styles, earlier stuff had a lot more harsh vocals)
