I will put up a poll when I get a list of programs.... I don't know too many, just Exact Audio Copy, iTunes, dbPoweramp, Windows Media.
I've been talking headphones with you for years. Now I can help you with your purchase:) Sales Specialist & Headphone Guru @ Headphones.com

Would there actually be any difference in the quality of converted files if you compare these programs to each other?
Right now I am using Foobar2000 to convert my music because it's free and fairly easy to use.

I use Max, both for the peace of mind associated with cdparanoia, and because it'll crank out an ALAC file in the appropriate folder, import it to my iTunes library, and build me a playlist for the album all at the same time.

I use WinAmp Pro to rip my FLACs. It's decently fast and allows very customizable yet intuitive tagging.

I've been using Easy CD-DA Extractor from Poikosoft for about 5 years. It was $20 when I bought it and I have used it ever since... it rips, it tags, it burns, it batch-converts, and it supports about 20 different audio formats.

I've never run into anyone else who used it...

For the last couple of years I've stuck with EAC & Lame, plus Mp3Tag for sort and add misc artwork etc.

Before that, I'm ashamed to I confess that used iTunes

EAC

I also use Album Art Downloader to get album covers (works pretty well, except for obscure albums). I use TagScanner to clean things up afterwards.

I been using this for several years now, centered around EAC. Haven't searched for anything better...

For gracenote access, player from vuplayer.com, as freedb on EAC sucks for Japanese and other non-english albums.
For ripping, EAC with mareo.
For Encoding, LAME -V1 and Flac.

Still use iTunes and rip everything to lossless.
