Are we talking the Touch or the Nano ?

List of iPod models - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If its the Touch, there is no such things as an '3G' 8GB Touch - the 3rd Gen was restricted to 32 and 64GB models.

sorry i forgot to add "touch"

does it mean the 8g touch can't use the voice recorder?
what is the main hardware different between the 2g and 3g?just the frequence of the cpu and the support of newer openGL? can feel the difference when we use it?

The 8GB Touch 2G and 3G are pretty much the same beast aside from the new one comes loaded with 3.1.X and some bootrom changes that make it harder to jailbreak but both can use voice recorder with an external mic or headphone mic. Only the 32\64GB 3G Touch have the new CPU\RAM\Open GL2 hardware changes.

I have the 32GB touch 3rd gen and it's sweet. My friend has the 8gb 2nd gen and I can tell a slight difference in speed. The new CPU is faster has a better graphics chip and the open gl. Also the 3rd gen have Bluetooth on 3.1 software so you can stream to stereos n such. So the Bluetooth stereo in my truck picks it right up n I can stream the music. Pretty sweet

I'd splurge for the 32gb 3g. But it is pretty expensive
