Um3x and comply tips= crappy sound? - Page 2

Comply is too soft to seal the ear at any given size equivalent to olive. to me I use medium olive to get good seal that as with Comply only large size or p-tip will provide the similar amount of seal.

So my suggestion is go with large Comply or standard P-tip if medium olive give you great seal

tstarn06 whats wrong with the klipsch ones? just curious.

Revisited them (listening right now), and nothing wrong with them. I use the large single flange, about the same as the modded flange and the soft flex. All have similar sound tube openings (narrow). I guess for some reason I felt the other two tips delivered better sound, but it's pretty close among those three tips. And the gels are the most comfy, a little better than the soft flex, with the flanges third in comfort.

are comply tips the memory ones that squish, if so you are correct sir, they just poop outta your ears, i found the ear canals wer ethe only ones i could getta decsent sound outt uv for the w3 and i was dissappointed, i did not let thme fully mature, meh.

I didn't like the sound with the Comply, they did sound muffled.

Klipsch gel (large) offer better bass, and are very easy to insert.

The other tips I use are Shure Olives (medium) and they tighten the bass up and improve clarity.

^^the above is my experience..

Now to think about it, the complies might also have added some graininess to the sound, though I can no longer confirm this.

It depends on your anatomy.

Triple flanges, short Complys, long Complys, wide PA910L, Flex, etc.

If lack of bass, you don't have a good seal and in most cases the Shure PA910-L will fix that. If lack of highs, sometimes Triple flanges, and so on.

No right answer to all.

And, sometimes, to make it just the more interesting, you will benefit from different eartips on each ear, as your ear canals are not identical either and sometimes they can be very different.

People that have had their impressions taken can relate

Precisely. I just had some UM56s made, and my ear canals are about as asymmetrical as possible. And I used to use different sizes of certain tips, foamies that is.
