Are you getting/have you gotten the H1N1 flu vaccine? - Page 11

Please people get vaccinated. You will be doing a favor to not only yourself but also to people around you. And no! These vaccines are not cheap knockoffs that have been put together to rob you of your money or health.

The reason they got out so quickly is because of the recent increase in flu epidemics. Almost all flu viruses have a similar basal function and structure and therefore it is easy to move one vaccine to another virus. All that was needed in case of swine flu vaccine was FDA approval after some simple changes in the production method, as compared to other flu viruses. I should know, I am a biotechnology student and in no way affiliated with any company ^^

If you still insist on not taking the vaccine then let me remind of one simple fact. Almost all of the infections that are spreading out to other countries have their origins in US. Probably because people didn't think it was important to have proper precautions (both residents and tourists). It is more important because technically US is the center of the economic world with the second largest number of arriving tourists (US is just an example here). First money (read banking) and then health? Have some mercy on the rest of the world people!

If you want more information from a reliable source then read the link at the end of this post. The source is WHO and you can get more advanced (just as reliable) information from scientific journals.

That was a good call. People who are already in a high-risk category (diabetes, asthma patients etc) are more likely to have severe pathology from the virus. What people don't realize is that they may be healthy to survive it but there are people around them who are already living a fragile life. If not anything else they will be carriers of the virus which can be deadly for their unsuspecting neighbours.

Read the story of typhoid Mary if you do not believe me. I think she was also equally confident in her abilities to fight diseases. Too bad for everyone else though.

It kills less people because it infects less people. The fatality rate is still higher than seasonal flus. More importantly, the virus is still mutating. It can get even deadlier if not stopped on time.

PS - Not trying to spread panic here. It is still not as big as the media claims it is. Road accidents kill more people then the flu is doing. It doesn't hurt to be cautious though.

I have decided not to get it.
People have died of the H1N1 flu, but people have died of the H1N1 vaccine as well. Bad side effects of the vaccination seems to occur quite often, like loss of smell/taste, heavy breathing, ...
