Apple Connector to SPDIF?

Anyone know if there are any cables similar to the ALO LOD cable but keeping the format digital? I would like to find a way to connect an IPOD to a D10 via the Coaxial/Optical inputs, and use the D10 DAC.

Anyone tried this or something similar?

Do not think that is possible. From what I understand you need an external chip, software, ... to tap a digital signal from an iPod.
Like what Wadia have implemented in their 170i.

Sure would be nice though!

Aye, I figured it was wishful thinking on my part. I can see the Wadia would give me the functionality I was looking for but the mobility factor is way off. Personally I don't see the draw to that unit, why not just use a computer?

A good read! I was hoping a solution would have been found already, but it sounds like their is currently no way to do it in a portable fashion. I think the best solution at this point is a HIFIman, but I am not ready to go down that road just yet

Onkyo ND-S1 Digital Media Transport is not cheap, but will work.

this unit is not portable(like the wadia unit)
ken @ alo audio is working on a portable, the "gr9"
