10,000 song library with 65% rated so far.
Mine is on iTunes and works as follows:

5 ***** I could listen to it anytime, anywhere
4 **** GREAT song and one worth listening to more often
3 *** Good song that is worth keeping and having in an occasional rotation
2 ** Not worth putting in the rotation at all
1* Technical problem / skips, etc

I don't use ratings because I would find it hard to settle on them. Not just changing attitudes, but also I'd have a hard time comparing songs that were made for different purposes. How do I compare something fun to something profound?

I guess I could try it some time though.

6500 rated tracks. Now that is impressive. I would probably quit after twenty.

5-stars, truly amazing song
4-stars almost amazing
3-stars keep this song, worth listening to
2-stars, my way of marking a song that i need later for any random reason
1-star, get this crap off my ipod!

When I go into iTunes I always delete all of my 1-star songs

I like to rate my library just because it helps iTunes Genius and makes more things possible as far as smart playlists go.

I base my system off of how Netflix's star ratings work for movies:

1 = Really don't like it
2 = Don't like it
3 = Like it
4 = Really like it
5 = Love it

Not only does this seem simple and make sense to me, it also allows me to have some consistency in rating across media and is easy to remember.
