Trying to wash/replace DT-531 earpads

Hi guys,

I'm trying to clean my rather manky DT-531 earpads and am having problems even removing them. They don't seem to easily come off unless the velour is actually ripped off the plastic housing. Am I missing something here?

I'm hoping to be able to easily take them off, wash them and then put them back on again but I don't see how unless I'd have to use superglue or something to stick them back on afterwards. Do new pads have a self-adhesive lining perhaps? If so, any clues where I can still get replacement pads?

Any help is gratefully appreciated

I recently replaced the earpads on my DT831 and suspect yours might be similar. The pads are stretched around a plastic ring which snaps into the main housing. To remove, you need to use a thin, flat knife and insert between the ring and housing, gently prying it open. You don't want to use a screwdriver.

If you buy new earpads, they include well-documented instructions.

I found the trickiest part stretching the new earpads around the mounting ring.

Donald has it right. Just use a butter knife and wedge it in between the plastic cup and the earpad and gently pry them apart.

As far as washing them, you can throw them in a mesh baggy and they will survive the wash just fine. They have no adhesive on them, so don't worry about that. If you want to buy new earpads, the DT770 pads should fit.
