Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW! - Page 386

Yes I agree.  I know in my mind that the HD800 has more detail and imaging and the LCD-2 again, superior in detail and precision but to my ears, when I listen to the Fostex T50RP, the details just come out more musically and alive with more magic.  Acoustic guitar is just amazing with these.

Or you could do the suspension headband mod now. ;) Slap one of the stock T50RP earpads onto the underside of the suspension headband as well for crazy stupid comfort.

I am not liable for the bad headphone hair you'll have after.

The stock earpads are long gone. I included those in a sale when I had an extra T50RP. I'm in no rush since I'm using the velcro padding from my messenger bag but something like the vinyl will probably look nicer.

Just a chunk of leather belt works really well. It doesnt flop around when you take it off your head like a suspension mod and is almost as comfortable as the suspension. I just used some of that super glue that is made for porous material and glued it on. It fits perfectly!!!

This is what my paradox look like :-)

Why not thunderpants?  I'm not so hot on the idea of people borrowing so many of Smeggy's ideas and work for a commercial product.

I tried a pair a while back and just couldn't get the fit to work for me. Hence I never could get everything out of them. And I kind of like the smaller form factor of the cups of lokesen's better. The T50RP's with the 840 ear pads fit like a dream, so I'm hoping lokesen's are more similar to that fit.

However there's no denying the quality of Smeggy's work....

How can this be more comfortable? to me it looks like the same, no padding and pretty rigid band. confused.gif

Personally I have just stick a layer of Paxmate under the original headband for some padding but it's far from perfect.

Hey guys I don't know if this is the right thread to post this in but here goes.  I am modding T50RP's to put into wooden cups and I ripped the right side driver from the driver soldered points after I put the new cable on.  It ripped a little brown piece off of it with the cable and I tried re-soldering and it won't stick.  I also tried scraping the copper lines to get some metal hoping that would help but it did not.  Are these pretty much ruined?  Please help!

The leather strip holds the cups at a different angle, and wraps around your head in a more flexible way.  It is vastly more comfortable.

^ Ditto, It totally eliminates the pressure point up top and wraps around the top of your head very well.

if you cannot manage to resolder them, a last resort would be highly conductive glue (epoxy); several different sources but i believe vandenHul makes a 'gold' version.

might be cheaper to buy a new pr of t20rp.

Finally started my mod today... any tips on lining the cups with fatmat+paxmate? Having trouble cutting out pieces/squares that fit nicely inside the cup.  Been working on the plasticine and paxmate on the driver and I think its going well. Gonna upload some pics in a bit.

cut pieces of paper to fit and then trace them onto your paxmate/fatmat to get one uniform piece.

are the t20 the same drivers?  I got epoxy but I think I pretty much destroyed the driver.
