Again, Deoxit will fix that.

Sorry, I didn't read all 4,907 posts in this thread first.

I doubt he meant any disrespect, but he has said this about 5 times beforehand...I really think we need a wiki of some sort for all of this stuff. :P

you don't really need to buy deoxit. much cheaper going to local radioshack and picking up some electronic PCB cleaner, de-oxitdizer/lubricate and contact cleaner. same thing and never really failed me. i use the electronic cleaner for cpus mostly cause it works wonders getting that old thermal paste off or have to get thermal paste off of output transistors on the heatsinks and replace it with some artic silver 5 compond for better conductivity and heat transfer. i use the de-oxidizer and contact cleaner for cleaning dirty pots and switches. works well on wires that oxidized over time as well.

Plus ten.  A step by step wiki with variations.

FWIW most of the people who have experience with driver transplants into new cups are in the Thunderpants thread. Most of us in this thread are trying to make the most of the stock cups. We'd all like to hear about your progress and results but I think you would get some better feedback there on what has worked for others going down that path. Good luck and keep us posted!!

That is a brilliant idea!  A Head-Fi Wiki would be an extremely useful tool for many topics.

Plug for these?

Has anyone found a mini-plug which will work in these phones (the phone itself, not the amp end). I thought I had found one (Mouser), but it doesn't fit; same with any of the Neutriks that I have. I was going to make a new cable for these as I already replaced the amp end with a Neutrik 1/4". Doing a 4 wire resistance measurement on the stock cable after I changed the plug showed a very high ~1.9 ohms on each conductor from end to end. A longer piece of Mogami mini quad measures well under 0.1 ohms.

I suspect I'll just have to rewire these, but thought I would ask.

how many conductors is the original wiring on these? i'm curious. they should be at my doorstep monday. i'm assume they use a shared ground and a 3-core conductor cable? i wonder how'll they do if i made them balanced.

No disrespect meant at all, it's just one of those problems that turns up quite often (like putting on the Shure pads).  And it definitely doesn't have to be name brand Deoxit--any electrical contact cleaner/lubricant will do.  I just recommended Deoxit because I initially tried using a normal contact cleaner without lubricant and found myself having to clean the jack about once a week before I got fed up and shelled out the cash for the Deoxit.

Gotcha.  Thx

Sometimes I wonder if some of you have spent more time modding than actually listening to these things...

I just got my T50RPs today. I decided to listen for about an hour then get right into the modding.

So far I have a layer of silverstone on the bottom and sides of the cups. I was gonna open the bass ports a little, but forgot lol. I put some modeling clay similar to plasticine in the baffle and the outer ring of the baffle. I did not fill the small holes around the driver. I did not change the white stock filter but I did find a couple reflex dots to put over them. Then I closed them up and put on those shure 840 pads and man...its a really tight fit that took me forever to put on.

I'm wondering which mods I should try first to make a tighter bass with more slam. Paxmate over the plasticine? Stiff felt instead of the stock white filter? Eventually I'll probably have a full RP2 but I'd rather enjoy them now and think about my next changes before I have to open them up again. also I think Ima try some cotton since it peaks a bit.

Mine have been closed long enough for me to forget exactly what's inside thembiggrin.gif.  Still my absolute favorite headphone (that I've heard so far)

Pars,

Here you go. This is a whole cable and not just the mini-plug though. Only $10 as well. LFF found this one.
