Yes, the ear holes are congested/cramped, because not wide enough and therefore not comfortable at all. At least not with my bigger than average ears.

My T50rp aren't modded like MD/AD and those pads are a huge imporvement of the SQ ans the SS, see the link : http://www.head-fi.org/t/111193/orthodynamic-roundup/23415#post_10798246

Either way, you are definitely going to experience a change in sound. There probably aren't many, if any, stock pads on any headphone that place your ears as far away from the drivers as the Alpha Pads do. On my D2000 the bass impact was much harder, the sub bass was better, the mids were MORE recessed (which is why I did not keep my Alpha Pads) and the treble seemed more harsh for some reason.

The affect will be different on other headphones though.

The alphas may not provide their intended SQ impact straight out of the box. Mr speakers site recommends & offers a tuning service for owners of their HPs that upgrade to Alpha Pads...

for me it wasn't a big difference

i've done quite a bit of tuning and my mods

are bits and pieces of other mods to get a sound that i like

overall the alpha pads made the bass more defined and less muddy

and made the highs less harsh and left the mids alone still well forward

to me they are very comfortable and the shape gives a much better seal

Abyss pads look real nice and the ear hole looks much bigger from photos !

Recently people have gotten HM5 pads on T50RPs, it takes a little stretching though. The ear holes on those are big enough to be around ear. They're really comfortable too. The come in pleather, velour, and a pleather with memory foam inside the pads.

I have the new memory foam HM5 suede topped. I'm just looking for an alternative pad to try on a second set.

I just glued the HM5 on the cans...too much hassle to get them stretched over.

Shure alcantara pads fit like a charm, barely change sound Sig, at least in stock config, will be testing with a variation of dbv3 mod soon
