Based on my test in comparison to stock pads and the shure 840 pads, mine has the best seal and it added more body to the sound. Better staging also due to its angled position.

Yes.

...and Happy New Year, everyone.

A wider opening would be great. I do have jumbo ears!

What is the material you use for your pads?

As of the moment my pads are made of pleather but i might consider using leather if i can find supply materials here in philippines

Arbich... God ! How can you wear pleather in the Phillipines ? 24-hour a/c on ? I cannot even wear leather contact pads without getting 'swimming pool ears' after 15 mins so I'm going to have to put a velour ear contact point on whatever pad I choose for my first Fostex mod.

I might try velour and see how it sounds.

Maybe you could do a Hybrid Leather + removable Velour cover on the top side that makes contact with your head.

Looks like a good idea. I prefer the feel of velour over leather, let alone pleather....

That's exactly what I was saying ! Cool.

Arbiche about the softest velour I've found is on Beyer pads but I just don't want to sacrifice my $35 pads for my mod.

I hunted around town for velour after velour that matched it, but they were just not as 'ultimate soft' as the Beyers.

I will be removing the top pad or getting the velour and pad stitched back in together.

A velcro on-off design would lead to signal bleed as the velcro could never be hermetic, regardless of degree or clamp pressure.

I had also looked at a plaid Harriss tweed ear contact point but it may be too itchy I'm thinking.

Maybe something like this is a sort of quick fix for sweatiness?

I was just thinking that perhaps that's a market Under Armour needs to tap into. Anyone brave enough to shoot them off an email?:D

A while back Comply was supposed to be working on some new pads that were supposed to be really cool and breathable... but I'm not sure if anything has come of that.

Funny. I have one of those travellers neck pillows which is filled with little memory foam beads. If there was a way to keep the pad firm enough without being too stiff to the ear they would make the perfect solution.

I keep thinking next time I see a memory foam bathmat on sale at Canadian Tire for $10, I should pick one up and try making some earpads.

On occasion dollar stores get in yoga mats, which would do as well.

That's a cheap regular foam though. I'd want to try memory foam. Although regular memory foam doesn't breathe that well either, hmm.
