DC power connector for 24V?

Hi guys,

I'm about to finish the sigma11, and will soon build the Pimeta amp, both will sit inside Hammond case (1455 series). Each one will have its own case. I want to place a DC power connector on the chasis, but since its all metal, I need an insulated connector (that's panel mount). I accidently ordered a non-insulated 5.5/2.5mm DC power jack from Mouser when I've placed my order a couple of weeks ago. I am no from the states, so ordering from Mouser/Farnell for just these is something I would like to avoid. I went to a few local stores today and non of them had these connectors.

Are there any other types you would suggest fo this use?
I don't want something that's hard to get, and preferably, something that can be locked so it won't accidently disconnect.

The power supply will be used for headphone amps mainly, so 24V and 1A is the max output it will ever be used for (probably just half of that).

Thank You.

Any ideas?

I was thinking of either 3/4 pin XLR, but I think they are a bit to big for this use (even though they are very comfortable and have locking connectors).

I like cb/ham mic connectors. they make them in 2,3,4,5,6 pin formats. metal shield is not connected to any pins. you can parallel pins/wires if you really want/need to. you can find them in many pin layouts so that no plug will fit into the 'wrong' one (I often send in 12v/5v or 24v/5v in bundles and so I pick connectors that can't 'mix up' things).

standard dc barrel is kind of over used since there's no standard for size vs voltage. not really even a standard for polarity (but most do use outside shield for ground).

look at mic connectors. they are quite strong, non shorting and insulated.

MULTICOMP|MJ-15SR|CHASSIS SOCKET, PSU, PANEL MOUNT | Farnell Latvijas Republika
This is 5.5/2.5mm isolated, farnell have really poor product information, you can see socket size only opening each datasheet.
Socket is for 12V, 1A, but I don't think something bad will happened with 24V.

other option is using something like this:
MULTICOMP|MJ-180|SOCKET, LOW VOLTAGE, 2.35MM | Farnell Latvijas Republika
harder to cut panel holes.

Sure is harder to cut holes for (I actually found something similar locally).

Can you give me the exact name for the connectors you've specified so I'll know what I'm looking for?
