S9 drive the PK1?

The title may describe my question, but here it is anyway.

I'm pretty certain I'm going to get the cowon s9 once I get my paycheck.

So has anyone tried using the YUIN pk1's on with the s9 without an additional amp?

I'm curious of the s9's amp is strong enough.

If that question wasn't clear, let me know.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, but the sound is a bit anemic, imo (I have an S9, and pair of PK1's). If I try to change the settings to fix the sound, I usually end up with distortion. The volume level is also a bit low, but that's to be expected.

Even a FiiO E5 amp helps, even if just a bit. And my MiniBox E+ is better - even so, the sound still manages to distort if it's too loud on the E+.

IMO I don't think that the player will drive the PK1s. You should invest in the cheap E5 like roebeet said but going higher in the chain will benefit you a lot also.
