I'm not crazy about the he 5, and I hope not all the new orthos extensions are like that. Back to the topic...I think the T-20 v2 have the best upper mid range for vocals, and this is what I like.

I agree that the HE-5 had a bit of a V-shaped signature, with spiky treble and boomy bass. I really liked them when I had them... I thought they were a fun listen after I got used to them, which took a while. The mids on the HE-6 and LCD-2 though, are exceptional, with the upper mids being more forward on the HE-6. I haven't heard the T-20 or the HE-5LE. I always really liked the mids on my W5000 and AD2000 as well, but they couldn't compete with the ortho flagships regarding frequency extension either. I think my favorite midrange overall though could be the K1000, bringing us squarely back on topic.

The T20v2 can have incredibly punchy bass if it is dampened in that way.  Mine has more bass slam then the HD600, though I'm not sure it extends as far.  My YH3 also has awesome bass response.
