How long did that take? I guess if you stare at him long enough the emperor appears normal and clothed.

I wonder how people who have used the ety-4p's for a while will react when given the UE-10's. "Yuk listen to the bloat in the low end"

I've also noticed that I can listen to both "colored" and flat and be happy with both. Am I just weird like that?

Anyways, If you don't like the 800s return them, no one's making you keep them. No sense in keeping something you don't like, especially if they cost you $1,399.95
Spare a thought for those of us who got the Qualias with exactly the same result
(awesome accuracy, crap tone and lotsa oddities in the earcup)

I think, if I remember correctly, I sold it without too horrifying a loss though.

Thats exactly how I feel when listening to these "reference" phones. I hope you enjoy them. When you hear something better, hopefully you'll be yawning then. I doubt it though as you'll probably be running towards the band wagon with the rest of the believers. Lou zer

I could give two****s what a real tuba sounds like. Music should evoke emotion and the devices we use should convey these emotions. These phones do not.

Or... your amp and source weren’t up to the task

If you want to tailor the sound, get a 32 band 1/3 octave equalizer.
If you want to hear what the source sounds like, get real hifi gear without tone controls and let the HD800 do their stuff.
Let the great sound great, and let the rotten sound rotten.
This is reality...................
If you don't like reality, get what suits you, but please........ don't call it hifi.

Hd800 aren't my bass cans, their bass is neat though, tight and meaningful, but not really the hard hitting bass my 650s can dish out. Sadly, I've never heard that much bass from any cans (nicer cans) except 650s, although balanced Beyers can hit pretty hard.
