Do you rest your ears?

Hello!
I do. I plug them out with my E4C (no music playing, of course!) and enjoy blissful silence for 15 minutes every day. Isn’t that a nice idea, just to keep my ‘microphones’ in nice shape?

Does sleeping count? And I can't listen to music on the john, too many bad memories.

Probably not.... Your ears are still picking the soundwaves... only your brain isn't processing them in the same way.

I think if I tried plugging my ears without listening to music, Id' go crazy from the tinnitus in my right ear. I generally like some noise about so it distracts from the tinnitus being the only thing I hear.

I do, at night when I sleep.

I find that using earplugs or iems when it's already quiet is a very unnatural and uncomfortable experience. Having my ears plugged up isn't my idea of relaxing my ears. This is assuming that it's already silent in my environment. If it's incredibly noisy, that's another story.

When i sleep i get readings of about 4 dB in my room.
I sleep for 4-8 hours.

Absolutely. If you look at the charts of exposure and hearing damage, you'll see that length of exposure correlates with hearing damage. When using headphones, I always take a break between albums.

Nope never!
Totally blocking them out as using earplugs in quiet surroundings that is...

I find that giving them a short break at ~ 0 dB(pluuged out with IEM) keeps the borderline tinnitus that I have (and most of us do) under check.. Just makes my ears feel fresher and makes the midrange sound even more pristine!

Yes I do. I'm perhaps more at risk to damage as I was prone to ear infections in the past, so I don't chance it.
