Leave the man alone...

Hawkings is still a genious with all his problems.

...by the way...a parametric EQ for the touch would be great! - just in case santa is logged in...

Dear Santa

I was a nice boy and do not have too great wishes.

First wish - 2 coax digital out pins from the dock

Second wish - FLAC support

It would not be that difficult and costly.

Agree that Steve has been a major part of their revival, and his absence highlighted the degree to which the rest of Apple Corp sits in his shadow. The beancounters they tried to parade in front of the Apple faithful were woeful and the product range reflected their mediocrity. I dont agree with everything Steve has done, but I admire the fact that he has the guts to take risks.

I met a few of the OS X guys from Cupertino when they came out a couple of years back, and they dont lack personality - its simply that the further you go up the chain, the more it becomes a sea of contracts and business cases. Compare his public persona to someone like Ballmer - talk about 180 degrees of separation.

Just a custom EQ w/a bass boost option, that's all. But yeah, this thread has been done way too many times.

Dear jobs,
for Xmas (or hannuka)
Please put a Miniusb socket on the ipod classic, fix the amp circuit so theres actually a decent headphone output, make it UMS and add flac and ogg support,

that way i can have a 120gb hard drive player that isnt french trash thats sold by the patch/plugin...

I dont really mind the equalizer provided. They just need to make them so that they are not destructive to the audio sample. i.e.- going above flat response. everything should be below those points.

Id call it non destructive equalizing.

I am constantly using bass reducer and treble reducing equalizing to maintain higher audio quality. The thing is they should make all of the presets non-destructive. that is if they cannot make a custom equalizer.

and flac support with higher capacity is a given.

Just how much music can you listen to at one time, anyway?

Are you really going to listen continuously for a couple of years?

Current storage capacity is realistic. More doesn't hurt, but my aging 30GB iPod seems adequate in practice.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go listen to a few glossy black round things. I'm not sure of their capacity, but they sound terrific.
