Can you get quality bass from a non custom IEM? - Page 2

I would absolutely compare the 880 to the PFE. I love my 880s for the same reason. They have deep bass but not too much of it. Certainly not rolled off.

The PFE is also abl to be tuned, as well.

It goes without saying, but what is "a lot" or even "too much" bass is totally determined by individual preference. Maybe you just need to go buy a Wilson Audio XS....getting it around might be an issue, but hey, sacrifice for sound!!

Yes that's the problem with taking people's advice on the internet. Take it with a spoonful of salt.

IE8 and FX500 should take the cake

I have both the Klipsch Custom 3 and the Super Fi 5 EB. I know alot of people criticize the SF5EB for sounding bloated and exaggerated bass, but I dont think so at all. I find the bass to be very smooth, controlled, and extends deep. The mids and highs are beautiful as well, I dont feel like they get covered by the bass at all. I actually prefer the SF5EB to my Klipsch Custom 3. Bass, mids and highs sounds much better. The Custom 3 has bass, but is lacking compared to the SF5EB. The Custom 3's have very "forward" and strong mids, which actually makes the sound seem muffled sometimes. Highs are more present on the SF5EB as well, whereas on the Custom 3, it feels like it rolls off sooner. One thing about the SF5EB is that they DEFINITELY need to be broken in, probably because of the dynamic bass driver. For the first week of owning them, the bass muffled everything up and I could have sworn these were the worst iems Ive ever heard. After about 200+ hrs I love them.

you might wana give the futuresonic atrios a try.

I'm not saying it is good or the best. But IMHO its a worthy reference for quality bass. Even after i had my customs, i kinda miss the bass of the futuresonic atrios

The IE8 has a brilliant soundstage. I wouldn't cross 'em off ya list if it's just because of perception. If you really hate bass then alright. But you can dial down the bass on the IE8 which I have turned down to the lowest notch. =)

Exactly what i think, the superfi 5 eb is underated... i will never sell my superfi 5 eb's, i have since bought 2 more pairs foolishly thinkin i could get near bass quantity and have an inline mic,(the superfi 5 eb is not available in a mic), anywho i also have the triplefi 10 and westone 3, and i can tell u i defitnely prefer my superfi 5 eb,,, best investment ive made,,, i only wish i wouldnt have bought all the other iem's and instead would have gotten some dx 1000's,, i just did an a-b comparison to my triplefi 10vi, and guess what again i preffered my superfi 5 eb,for music and especially while watching movies!!! the triplefi 10 aint bad and i plan on keeping them as they have an inline mic for my iphone and memo record, i tested the voice record and it sound crisp high quality, the cord is noisy, not like the superfi cord, if only ultimate ears would offer the superfi 5 eb with an inline mic,,,,sadly i hear it may be discontinued,,,, what r they thinking,,, if they came out with a triple driver with that superfi 5 eb woofer, i would buy it in a second,,,
-----can anyone out there please let me know if there are any iem's which have more bass than the superfi 5 eb,, except for those jh13 customs or whatever the hell there called 1000 dollar bleep......................................
-- id o hope this helps any fellow bass connoisseur's out there, also if anyone has the know how, illl pay them to mod me a pair of eb with an inline cord maybe,,,,,,

gear : Koss pro4 AAA, Denon 7000, audio technica ha25d amp/dac
ue superfi 5 eb triplefi10vi, westone 3, rsa predator amp/dac
wireless cans,, sony mdr6000,, pioneer se dir800c IR

can the monster turbine bass compete with the superfi 5 eb?
what about the jvc woody's,,,,
there has to be more iem's out there with bass woofers like the superfi 5 eb,
how is this supposed niche market overlooked, not everyone has robot ears and most of us supposed bass heads(which most really arent we just like fullbodied sound, and dont like getting bright highs overpowering stabing our ears), will tell you its better to have more than less and you can always eq down,,,,,,sick of people bitching about too much boomy bass,, you sound like my mom!! furthermore, ive got 2 10's in the ride and i never ever have them turned up high, usually below half power, and each recording requires specific eq.... tell these companys what we want more bloody bass!

+ a portable amp, the bass tightens up and the other parts of the spectrum is more neutral while the bass is powerful. Check out the IE8 and the P3+. Good combo.
does the ie8 have more bass than the superfi 5 eb or the atrio m5?
