Indeed, that's what Headroom does. Look at how many headphones Sennheiser makes versus what Headroom carries. Ditto Koss. Grado's an exception as I can only assume that their distributor agreement requires companies to carry their complete line- once again, this is an assumption as every retailer that I've seen carrying Grado carries the complete line.

Not liking the presence of SC in Headroom. Some units may sound good, but I can see it as an excuse for those ignorant people out there to proclaim, "Hey, our cans sound just as good or better than your so-called audiophile overpriced crap! And look, some of the scores are waaaayyyy better than yours! BEAT THAT, SUCKAS!!!!"

Who cares if they carry them or not as long as they carry the quality cans as well. Just skip past the SK's if you don't want them.

And why trust reviews about a product on a site that is selling that same product? You might as well ask a car salesman if the Lexus or the Chevy would better meet your needs. What do you think he's going to say?

You really ought to listen to the Titans, they're pretty good... actually VERY, VERY good for the price. And the Holuas are very good sounding as well.

The Sony MDR-V500 is also quite good, but I'm going to talk to the folks here about spendin some more time with the V700 ... I think it's weak.

I'll tell you a little story, I have a 13 year old daughter. I handed here a pair of gaudy plaid Skullcandy headphones and a pair of Denon 1001s. The 1001 is obviously far better sounding.

I asked her which one sounded better; she answered that the Skullcandy did. I acknowledged that the Skullcandy was pretty, but dd it really sound better, and I made her listen again. Well, she claimed the Skullcandy did.

Obviously her perception was dramatically altered by the styling of the cans, but none the less, that was her perception. Now if she wants a pair of headphones for Christmas should I force the Denons down her throat, or should I please her with the Skullcandies, and wait for her to outgrow the attraction and then give her better headphones when she grows up?

I think folks should also realize that we worked very hard, very fast, and we will now be working on polishing up our work. There's a practice called "Rapid Developement" that has the basic theory that it is faster to NOT do it right the first time... that doing it fast so as to achieve a finished product, and then going back to work on it has the advantage of everyone having seen a finished product. That reference allows us to work on tweeking it from a known finished state toward the direction we'd like to go.

I strongly suggest that as you view the new site you realize that it's our first pass on this new voice to the broader world, and that we are now working very hard, now that we can see it and get some feedback, on developing a clear corporate voice.

And seriously, you if you haven't heard the Skullcandy Holuas, you should try to get your hands on them, they are a VERY fun listen.

Because if we sell you things you aren't satisfied with, you're likely to return them. We struggle with this issue, let me assure you we're working very hard figuring it out, but we DO want to be trust worthy, and we will diligently strive to earn it.

BTW, thanks for bringing it up.

Yup. It should be the other way around, people with Sennheisers, Grados and whatever telling other people that their cheap stuff suck.

If you get affected and believe SC users when they tell you your stuff is "so-called audiophile" and that it's overpriced and that their stuff is better AND because the "scores" are better than your "scores"... then I don't know why you should be affected if you truly believe your stuff isn't what they say.

I went to the BMW dealership yesterday, but I didn't buy anything because they also had some hyundais on the lot. I was afraid the hyundai buyers would laugh at me for having a "performance" car when theirs was just as good or better than my so-called luxury overpriced crap.

I suspected the website was still undergoing some work. It was pretty obvious when the items show up so low on the page, etc., like how can you not notice that. It's interesting to hear the philosophy behind it though - it makes a lot of sense, kind of like how writing a quick first draft of a paper and then editing it is faster than poring over every word to make it "perfect" the first time.

The main problem that I have talked to with *trance* DJ's (target audience, yaknow?) who switched from the V700DJ to the V6 is that a: the V700DJ's bass is too slow for beatmatching, and the treble isnt clear enough to beatmatch with hi-hats, and they tend to BREAK ALL THE TIME. And I am *fairly* sure the v500dj's are similar in these respects...

I'm not making any accusations about you or your site specifically, just my personal policy is all.

The V500DJ isn't as bloated as the V700DJ--the bass is a bit better balanced with the mids. And I do agree that the treble response of both of those DJ headphones could have been more suitable for their intended use: It isn't quite sizzly enough for this.

At least they do carry the V6 and not the V600...

Speaking of Skullcandy, their in-ears are the only Skullcandy products that I'd consider even halfway decent.

OMG. Spotted by ma'am in Head-Fi!

Well, I'm not that greatly affected, but I'm worried about them influencing the uninformed public. That will cause somewhat a chain reaction that will just create even worse misinformation.

Around this house, we beat children who wear the skull candy.

I kid, I kid. In reality I'd just make them live in the cellar for a week.

Officially disowned.

Actually, good point about the visuals, as, compared to your 13 year old daughter (who we will be sending to a Siberian labour camp for "reconditioning") people here are the opposite, in that they find the visuals repulsive. So even if there are similar brands that make bass heavy cheap cans, they aren't shouted down as much here as Skullcandy as they don't look tacky.
