Been searching the threads and can't find a solid answer. Would appreciate feedback on the following:

1. Does anyone know the codec (DAC) in an iPod Touch 3G? Further, is the internal amp of an iPod Touch 3G of enough caliber that a portable amp is not required?

2. I've been told that the Shure SE530s are quite sensitive IEMs. If coupled with an iPod Touch 3G, is it true that a portable amp will only provide minimal "improvement" in terms of SQ?

3. What is the purpose of the "gain" selection/switch on certain portable amps?
