The ESW9 simply sounds too aggressive with my iBasso P3. The laid-back, transparent and expansive sound of the iQube makes long listening much less fatiguing.
That's funny, cause I don't think the iQube is that laid back at all...In my oppinion it just smoothen out the highs while keeping the detail, and it keeps the massive bass, while getting control over it . Also I don't find ESW9 aggressive at all :-) Mine has been recabled with APS V3 - don't know if that's why we hear these differences. Anyways, we agree, this combination is a great match!!!

I don't think the ESW9 needs an amp or DAC, personally

Listening to my ALO re-cabled ESW9 through my Pico Dac/Amp as I type. I don't know how it gets much better for the price. Its the perfect application for this amp. I can't keep my foot and leg still.
