NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN. Just like nothing happened for "Y2k".

One of my friends made the point that the Mayan calendar ends on that date, but doesn't technically "end", it just starts over.

Anyway, thus ends my succinct rant of the day

One never know 100% sure, but imo the chances are small that something horrible will happen. he he

Of course nothing bad will happen. Besides, how does a calendar "end"? It is just a display of how we break up time according to astronomy. This whole 2012 thing is silliness perpetuated by people who do not know any better.

I saw the preview for this movie, and I want to watch it for the mindless destruction, but the poster quote is a little odd. It had better not be preachy. Just take my money and let me enjoy the CGI.

The cataclysmic worldwide economic meltdown should reach its bottom in that year, so WW3 is certainly an apocalyptic possibility on that date

2012 is being used, as per 2000, to sell a lot of stuff. Theories are flying fast. The world may well end before that. Katie, bar the door!

one of the points that the doomsday people are making is that all the planets will be aligned on that day. i cant find the video, but a physicist pointed out that that is true...since it happens every year on that date.

I do believe the Mayan Civilization only went to WAR with said alignment of the planets... (History Channel, as viewed last night)

I don't know about WWIII, but I agree that the economy should be bottoming out around then. We're only about 25% of the way into the real estate fiasco - nothing will get better until real estate prices stabilize.

Oh, don't take me wrong as being a doomsayer, but as to fulfill the "how" in the OP, is that it is historically evident that one political answer to economic depressions is the full employment option of War .

Considering the way the environment is going, I'm pretty sure things are going to get much worse in the next decade, whether that be sooner or later.

I had a dream on 2012 on 10/16/95. I normally don't remember dates of dreams I had, but this 2012 dream left a huge impression on me.. And so far, everything is going as planned. I do believe that 2012 will be a new begaining, rathet then the, we all die theory.
