Mini^3 DIY Tips - Page 2

A tip for soldering parts as tightly as possible. Place the part as usual by bending the leads out etc. Only solder one side then pick up the board and press on the part then reheat the joint with the iron. This will insure the part is tight to the board. Now solder the other lead and double check the original joint.

Silly Putty is a good "helping hands" for those parts that want to fall out when you flip the board over.

Masking tape works as well, but you have to be careful as it will loosen up.

Flux can definitely be the magic goo in some of these instances that you whish you had three hands. Set up the part, apply flux, hold the part with one hand and touch the tip of your iron to the solder wire drawing a small blob onto the tip. Now just touch the blob of solder on the tip to the prefluxed joint and it will make a nice joint for you. This is a great technique it will come in handy al lot.

Thanks everybody! My flux pen was delivered this morning and I have a pound roll of 63/37 rosin core in route. When it gets here, I get started. I appreciate the comments!
