Similar to you, I was told the HE-5's had shipped and sent EMS number on the 8th, only to be informed five days later (after I emailed) that it was now 'out of stock' and to 'check again in a couple of days'.

Perhaps they could wait until an item's *really* shipped before sending out tracking details? Would also prefer dealing with a name, any name, and not just 'Customer Service Department'.

Still, they've been responsive and accomodating with enquiries, so not really complaining.

Well, bought mine yesterday, and it's being shipped to LA as we speak, lets hope it has no inconveniences in the journey.
JIGF, you bought it yesterday and got an EMS tracking number that says it's on it's way? I ordered HE-5/EF5 combo but haven't received any emails. Did you have to contact them?

I got a purchase confirmation from googlecheckout today, it also sent me a tracking number with a carrier that is not identified. I googled my tracking number and did not find anything. If nothing shows up tomorrow I'll send notification to Head-Direct.

Seems to be different for everyone. I'm still waiting and I ordered 6 weeks ago. Others ordered yesterday and they are en route

Fingers crossed...maybe they just finished a huge production run and everyone's going to get them in time for Christmas??

Well I made the decision and ordered the headphone and amp combo! Hopefully it will surpass my K701's and DT 150's... I took the risk, and told them to ship it to Canada, so hopefully it won't take any longer than 2 weeks, or 3 tops... fingers crossed!

I received my HE5 and EF5 two days ago, currently both have about 50 hours of burn-in and I could not be happier. I realize there is an element of "new toy" but nonetheless this are an exceptional pair and I hope to post more this coming weekend. So far I can say:

1. Very comfortable.
2. Nice tight and extended bass.
3. Very liquid and engaging mids
4. Extended highs
5. Very musical and open presentation
6. Very powerful delivery of the music w/ excellent decay

More to come.

Well, at least we no longer have to worry about the FOTM thing. Skylab got his T-1's today and it took about 20 minutes for him to pronounce them superior to the HE-5. I'm crushed, it's painful to be a victim of fashion. I must be some sort of pervert to still like these.

For the price, the T-1 better be an upgrade!

Sorry, it's tough to keep up. Is that the Beyer T-1?

Ouch.

About the shipping: I think they fill out an EMS label as soon as they get an order, and email the customer that it has shipped before packing the headphones. That would explain the above posts. However, I expect that if someone says that something is shipped, it means that it has been actually sent, not "We filled out the label and will ship it sometime".

Need help to make a decision: Could Little Dot MK6+ drive HE-5 well?
Beagle you still haven't gotten them? EGAD! I would be jumping with anxiety if I hadn't received mine yet... What does your tracking info say? Have you tried following up w/ either Fang or EMS? I hope you get yours soon... yours and Zanth's impressions helped me push me into getting these over the RS1's, and I feel a bit bad that you aren't enjoying them yet. Best of luck!

As for the flavor of the month thing and "T1 significantly > HE5" ... I couldn't say of course, but there will always be competing opinions that argue GS1000 > HD800 > T1 HE-5 or HD800 > T1> GS1000, etc... So I pretty much interpret "better than" as "like them more than" (in other words, X > Y might as well mean X < Y to me if I dont own both to confirm... but you know.. headfi is fun to read for these opinions, even if they are so radically different to others from time to time). And as for general consensus, who knows where HE-5 will fall until we get a large enough sample of owners.

And it may be too bad that we wont see as many HE5 comparisons to other top ends on the same scale as Beyerdynamic's top end will see even at the higher price point. In any case, Frank, I'm glad you're still enjoying the HE5. I am, too!

Maybe in the real world, but not necessarily so, here on Head-Fi.

The T1 is Van Gogh and the HE-5 is Reniour...both are works of Art and will have devotees. Both hang in the Louvre......
