HE-5..initial musings - Page 38

these headphones surely sound very impressive. from all the comments,it sound like they are far better than any "normal" mid to high level dynamic headphone.

although reading skylabs comment on the suffiecient bass, I am still a little worried because I am a basshead and my favourite headphone so far is the D5000. now, I wouldn't mind for something more "neutral" but I still want to keep the fun factor and not getting too much analytical and flat sound.
hearing stuff like: they are on par with the HD800 and stax..makes me want them a lot. and ofcourse, trying something new like orthodynamic headphone will be interesting for me.

like have been said here, me to burned once when getting the HD650 (in trying to get something more balanced sounding than the D5000) and felt they were bass anemic, with no punch at all.
I know these are open cans, but please tell me again...how is the bass? significantly more than the HD650? are they good for electronic trance music? (where you certainly need the punch and deepest bass you can get)
will my headroom ultra micro be suffiecient for driving these?

I hope they dont' have too much bass. Fun factor to me equals natural (not necessarily neutral) bass, with clear notes and pitch accuracy. Something close to a, let's say, well amped K702 would be quite good..

Less bass quantity than D5000, nearly the same depth though and better quality, but no, they are not going to be as fun for bass slam if that's your main criteria.

I bet they won't give you that "in the club" effect that the Denons give. But that's a different sensation than enjoying listening to music. I bet these reproduce music tons better than the Denons, which I myself hate almost as much as the Edition 9s...

:chug:

Thanks for the heads up Hope to receive mine for christmas!

thanks, it seems like they are the strongest candidate for replacing my HD650. ofcourse i am not anticipating for a "denon like" bass, denon is denon and have their own usage amd purpose. i just don't want another bass anemic headphone.
a question..i read that these have a lot of air which sound like something i like...grado like. but how is the treble comparing to the grado sound? are they as bright as the grados?
and how the bass quantity comparing to the hd650? please just answer with "more or less" answer so i can get a proper evaluation, thanks.

They do not have anemic bass. The bass is enough to satisfy. Note that I did not feel the HD800 had enough bass weight to be satisfying, and I think the HE-5's do.

exactly

ok..thanks guys! say no more..I will put an order for them as soon as i get my paycheck.

by the way..highs are less problematic for me as long as they are not harsh, but I prefer smooth highs overall. how is the treble comparing to the grado house sound? are the HE5 less bright than the grado?

Has anyone used the EMS tracking page before? It says:

Your item was not delivred successfully(UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 60201) at 2009-12-07 09:42:00

However, nothing has been delivered, and 60201 is not my zip code - if thats a zip code at all. Should I be worried about my HE-5 yet?
