I really enjoy all of them, and in comparing the HE-5 to HP-1000 with Equinox cable on my ZDT the HE-5 were clearly better to me in all areas, and closer to the Stats or HD800 in performance. (HP-1000, HE-5, O2 and Jade do beat the HD800 in the area of bass, but not in the out of head soundstage you get with HD800.)
I thought the HD800 had the best bass quality by a margin compared to the HE-5. Easily the best bass I've heard.

The T-1's have nice bass when amped properly and give the 800's a run for their money, especially for $400 less.

Right now, I still like the HE-5's best overall out of the three. And for the same money as the T-1, you get a headphone and an amp.

For now, I think I'll keep all 3 and sell other stuff.

I have been watching an episode of "La Femme Nikita" on Hulu every night before retiring and I have been rotating the three headphones out of the USB from my MacBook Pro into a D-10. I am watching all 5 seasons in succession and it is amazing how good the audio is from the show (not sure what the bitrate is on Hulu audio) compared to watching them on TV 1997-2002.
They put a lot of effort into the sound effects that goes unnoticed on a TV.
There is always something going on, way off in the background.

I assume you're going to get an LE version as soon as it comes out immtbiker?

I have a prototype on loan since the NYC meet.

And so the question remains: Are you going to get an LE version as soon as it comes out?

Wow, would you mind to share what's the differs between these 2.

More detail, no sibilance. But take in mind that this is not the final product.
Nothing can be said really, until the production model is launched and it spends some time in the trenches.

Now, I'm totally intrigued.. any pics you could share? Or they simply look the same aesthetically with the regular version?

Thanks immtbiker, please keep us up-date for further information about the final production one.

Identical looks, except for a star cutout on the foam on the outside facing portion of the earcups (might have been done to correct the sibilance problem which I personally, never experienced on my personal original pair).

I see, much thanks! The waiting game begins then... 3 long weeks to go.

Sorry if this has been said (there are 110 pages to read through), but is there a price estimate or speculation on the LE version? I'm trying to decide between buying the combo now or waiting for the new version.

I believe that I read it was $100 more, $699

Whoops, I seem to have missed this post.

Thank you for sharing Skylab! More on this if you may, were you able to try the HE-5 on other portables (non-balanced)?

I tried the HE-5 briefly (single-ended of course) using the P-51 Mustang, and while I thought the sound was pretty good, it was not in the same league as the HE-5 balanced run on the Protector. The HE-5 require more current than a normal portable amp can deliver; the Protector in balanced feeds them enough to make it work well.
