thanks again

What amp was Alex from APureSound using for the HE-5?
I came close to pulling the trigger on the D7000 ( if you mean Denon's and not Audio Technica's), but the bass didn't do it for me. I listentened to the T-1 Tesla Beyer at the CES show, and I was intrigued, but it was too noisy to really hear what it could do. That, and it's 600Ω, although, they were working on convincing me that it was an efficient 600Ω.

I don't really understand the benefits of making a headphone 600Ω, but that's for another thread.

Unfortunately, I sent back all the packaging when I sent the original cracked headphone in for replacement. So, I wonder, what am I supposed to do with a HE-5 without the headphone cable?????

To make matters worse, I inspected it a bit more carefully & I had to start laughing, but you won't believe it, one wood cup won't swivel in the metal bracket because the metal bracket (I can see it's bent) scrapes the wood cup.

Well,...I emailed Fang again. FWIW, I originally ordered in early December. Let's see how long this takes to get one I can keep.

That is annoying, but the email when you send them back does say not to include the box or any peripherals.

I suppose this means you have the he-5? Also I thought (from reading the various replies in this forum) that the Denon d5000/d7000 have great bass? thank you

Tintin,

Your email may have, but mine did not. It only said to send them to him at his NYC address. AFAIK, anytime a product is returned to any other online retailer, it implys all the original packaging should also be sent. So, that excuse is not valid. It also does not explain the non-swiveling head cup.

I'm waiting for Fang to respond to my e-mail. Don't get me wrong, I am not mad at Head Direct or Fang, but this is just getting a bit frustrating.

FWIW, I thought the HE-5 was pretty nice sounding based on the 4 hours I actually had it for.

Gotta say I'm a little nervous here ... I'm about to order the HE5 + EF5 combo today if I can. I accept that something probably will go wrong ... but I really want these phones. I think regardless of how the Head-Direct company fares, they will be highly sought after in a few years. For me this is kind of like going back in time and having the opportunity to purchase a HP2 or R10.

Keep in mind that we tend to pay closer attention to the things that go wrong. And people who have problems are more likely to post. For all we know they have sold 1000 and only 10 have had issues. That being said, I still would be hesitant to order.

Hey guys I have a quick question,

I sent the headphones to China via ems, since I am in Europe now... Should I be concerned about this...

Your item was not delivred successfully(XUZHOU) at 2010-01-26 15:35:00
Reasons for unsuccessful delivery:Other,Was out for delivery attempt today

Now this is the second time the delivery has failed to reach them, I used the exact address given. I emailed them, so hopefully they will respond soon. Since It would be a nightmare if they sent my shipment back to me! I paid good money on speedy delivery to them, which actually should not have happened in the first place... Do you guys think I am overly paranoid, or is this a concern? thanks, cheers!

Hope your guys' headphone woes work out. I guess you can get lemons in anything these days. As long as customer service is where it should be, you should have nothing to worry about. Keep us posted.

Ohhhhh I just ordered! 2nd day shipping from Hong Kong. Fingers crossed everybody!

Just FYI, Head-Direct was VERY helpful to me. I had a number of special requests and they accommodated me no problem. My e-mails were returned almost immediately. Amazing service!

not necessarily. it can get expensive especially for non-US customers if the phones needs to be sent back regularly. Plus the hassle of not having the phones to use

when you buy a house, you can inspect it first before you hand the payment
