Medals

The Royal Canadian Mint had revealed what the medals will look like in 2010.

What do you guys/gals think?
Do you care?

I think they're pretty cool.
I think that's a whale on it can anyone confirm?

there's little facts if you go to each medal, and one of them says their design is inspired by the orca, and the paralympic ones are inspired by the raven.

Just to clear up any confusion, the Orca, known as the Killer Whale, is actually part of the dolphin family.

I didn't know that, now I have to work that piece of trivia into a conversation .

Ahem. I think it's quite clear that they're actually large penguins.

They look like they got ran over by something.

What's wrong with putting a design on a flat round type shape?

Very original designs.

Also very large medals: half a kilo each. That would be almost painfully heavy to wear around your neck! Well, you can't accuse them of skimping on the medals, I guess.

That's not the RCMs style, they always seem to be on the forefront of design always trying something new.

I'll take one of their 100Kg $1Million face value coins.

Lol, you could probably get one of these medals for less $ than a Scotty Cameron marker.

Look pretty sweet.

That 100Kg $1Million face value coins is simply amazing though.

Mmm, $1 million dollar coin... I like it more than the plethora of 'special edition' coins coming everyone every other week it seems.

Compensation for an opening ceremony that will pale in comparison to China's. "At least our medals are bigger!"
