Grado SR60 & SR80i cable

Hi all, sorry if this sounds like several dumb questions - Grado SR60 & SR80i cable:
  1. Is it just a plain straight cable or is it a springy coiled affair?
  2. Also approx how long is it?
  3. Does it terminate at a 3.5mm jack?

Cheers

-Straight Cord
-7 ft. (2 m) long
-Yes, only the 125 and up use the bigger ones.

Have fun!

Just FYI- Headroom's website has plenty of stats on all phones that they carry. That's where I got the length from (My SR-80s are literally on top of my bag beside me as I type, but I'm too lazy to get a tape measure out. )

Perfect, many thanks for the answer - Very helpful and much appreciated.

Has anyone ever felt the need to shorten there cable due to using them with an DAP?

A cable length of about 4ft would be more than perfect for me - I'd be interested to hear if it's pig of a job or easy enough?

You're welcome. Lots of people have recabled Grados- it's a bit of a PITA, though - you need to disassemble them carefully and know something about soldering. What I do with my SR80s is loop the cable several times around my laptop bag's cloth carrying handle. That keeps my phones attached to by bag (also preventing the cord from being yanked forcefully from my iPod, which did in a pair of D1001s before) and shortens the cable to something manageable.

If you lack a laptop bag, try looping the cord to something shorter, coiling it up and holding the coil together with twist-ties.

It should be fairly easy to shorten the cable, but this is of course depending on your soldering skills. The cable will need a new jackplug.

I use mine with 2 different DAPs around the house. I don't consider Grados portable, so they don't leave the house, so cable length is not a problem for me.
