Anyone Have the Sept 09 Ipod Classic 160gb with REO IEM's?

I got an ipod classic last week and just ordered the REO IEM's. Wondering if anyone has this combo and can report on sound quality. I currently have the senn cx500 (not fake). I actually like the cx500 although the volume slider which I thought would be a good thing is pretty useless. It is either full blast or so low you can't hear anything.

I also have a Sansa Fuze 4GB with an 8GB microsdhc. Haven't used it since I got the iPod though.

Some say the REO's benefit from an external amp but I am holding off on ordering one for the moment. Carrying around an extra box in my pocket does not seem to appealing. I also ordered a line out doc last week.

I don't have a Classic or Fuze, but I've got an iPod Photo and Clip+. With the Clip+, the RE0's sound fine unamped. With my iPod, it really needs an LOD and amp to sound good, but YMMV.

An LOD won't do you any good without an amp (unless you're plugging it into a car stereo or something like that). It'll be at full blast without volume control.

I got the LOD for the car and my home stereo. Not against getting an amp for the classic but I want to hear it first. Some are syaing that the new classic 160gb is one of the better sounding ipods. I had a 5th gen video for a few years and really liked it until the hard drive failed and I screwed up unstalling a new hard drive (broke the battery connector in the mother board).

I have both, but I really dislike the RE0 - not enough bass impact - so I cant give you an unbiased report, I'm afraid. Many Shure owners complain about the hiss from the Classic, but they are fine from my Sony IEMs.
