I have replaced it with a new #10: "She Said She Said"
What I can do actually, rather than adding Shes Said to your list is split the points between Medley 1 and Medley 2...........

So I can award 5 points to Sun King - Bathroom Window and 5 Points to Golden Slumbers - The End............

Tally has been updated............ as of this date... Head-fi's 10 favorite Beatles songs in order are:

01.A Day In The Life
02.In My Life
03.I Am The Walrus
04.For No One
05.Strawberry Fields Forever
06.While My Guitar Gently Weeps
07.Across The Universe
08.Dear Prudence
09.Nowhere Man
10.Ticket To Ride

Incredibly...... McCartney has only 1 composition in this list, and Harrison also is only featured once..... Lennon has 80% of the list as of this date.

Same observation with the survey I'm running. Most avid music lovers really prefer John over Paul. And I'm glad "For No One" is the McCartney composition there because it's truly amazing.

"The End" I think was Paul's true moment of brilliance, but considering it's a snippet of a song more than an actual composition, tough luck for it to be included here.

Also glad that "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" got in instead of "Something"

I'm a huge Beatles fan.....I love John and Paul equally, but I'm aware that Paul was vastly more musically talented. I'm just flustered as to how Lennon can have 8 out of 10 songs voted.........lets assume that A Day In the Life is 1/3 Paul and In My Life is 1/3 Paul............... thats still 7.333333 out of 10 that Lennon has.

Amazing to me.

P.S. Fusebox, I hope your not mad at me for stealing your thread idea, I know you gave it your blessing, but I hope you aren't mad nonetheless.... PS what do you think of how I am calculating the scores.........do you think its effective?

No problem whatsoever. I think I'd tally it the same way, so I wouldn't have it any differently.

I guess Paul was indeed the more musically inclined of the two considering that he went on to be a multi-instrumentalist and has a great sense of melody.

I think what people get from John is that he's very quirky and eccentric. His mind works in a peculiar and idiosyncratic way, but still retains a lot of accessibility that - when combined - people end up finding it more refreshing, timeless and appealing.

I agree that Lennon is quirkier and a bit more out of the box............but his arrangements had tremendous help..........his beloved songs Day In The Life, In My Life, Strawberry Fields Forever, Walrus, Across The Universe..............

they all have immense inuput from McCartney, Martin or Spector......he never really had a song in his head that was fully formed like McCartney. McCartney would usually just come to the studio with his song in his head and just show everyone what he wanted.......John was more receptive to input, maybe that's to his credit, but often when I hear a McCartney song I remember that most of what you hear with McCartney, was McCartney's alone, and no one else's really. That's important to me.

Yeah I agree with that, and I admit that's lost on many people... me included. I remember this anecdote about Paul where he drove Linda to a class once and gave himself a goal: To write a song while waiting for her class to finish. When Linda came back, he already had a fully formed song completed. And of course, on his solo debut and a lot of albums after that, he would do practically all the instrumentation himself.

it's funny, our exchange reminds me of many conversations i've had on Canal St.

this is an interesting offer, but i really think i'd rather just leave my list as it is now, rounded out by "She Said She Said." Abbey Road side 2 is really my favorite stretch of Beatles music, however it's defined, but I don't want to muddy up what it means to be a "song," so I'll just leave it. besides, it's just a list.

personally, George Harrison has written a disproportionate number of my favorite Beatles tunes. he wasn't prolific, but he was certainly underrated.
