What's up with this? I consider 98kbit internet radio from Swedish radio more enjoyable than the sq from itunes playing aac320 files ripped direclty in itunes. Has anyone experienced the same?

Obviously it can't be better in any real sense but it kind of puzzles me how the soundstage feels wider and the overall presentation feels more airy.

Maybe you enjoy the additional dynamic compression that radio stations like to use.

Well we would need to know what dac, amp and headphones you're using with your PC.

Also are you comparing ripped files on the same PC or on your portable player?

Are you comparing the exact same songs from internet radio and CDs?

I've always found the opposite is true. Internet radio sounds terrible compared to
anything I've ripped from original sources.

Well if you read carefully I state that he sound isn't better in absolute terms yet the overall experience is that the sound is more open. I consider it being a bit veiled otherwise. When it comes to cleaness and resolution the AAC files are better. And no I haven't listened to the same songs.

Edit: I just saw that my topic is missleading, should be different maybe a ? After?
