The Antelope Zodiac / Zodiac + / Zodiac Gold DAC Thread - Page 14

The SNR and distortion specs are PCM1792 measurement. It got kick ass signal input and digital stage. Overserving from its 2kg weight, one should not expect more than a single power transformer and opamp analog stage. For the money it is light weight. I mean will be lighter than the sum of the cables connecting to it.

It could be good value in audiophile sense as it got a volume control and can function as a preamp.... But sorry to mention again it weigh only 2kg?

They all use that BB 1792 chip. I just checked that.

As for weight? Yup, it's 2kg or 4.4 lbs according to Antelope's own website and literature.

Finally: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/antelope/zodiac.html

Work in progress.

True the weight is interesting, but ask yourself what typically accounts for the weight inside most electronics?  Chasis+Power supply.  Antelope uses external power supply.  This tells me they must use an aluminum chasis as well possibly.

Now this could just be me talking for my own "psychology" but when I pop 2 grand or more on gear I like a little heft.

For example my Audio-gd Ref5, 90% of the weight is the chasis....thing is heavy.

Nice. Might want to keep tabs on this thread, too: Tigz, I know you're already a forumer and participant in this thread but others might want to keep tabs: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/content/Antelope-Zodiac-Arrived?page=1

When do you expect to take delivery of your unit?

I ordered the unit through a brand new dealer and apparently it takes a while for Antelope to get new dealers online and in their system.

I am hoping it will ship out to me this week.  I believe they ship their units from S.F. which is not all that far from me, so once it does ship it should arrive very fast.  I will update the forums when it arrives.

Cool.

I'm halfway tempted to order one from Sweetwater myself and demo it.

Sweetwater's price is good. Ask for Chad Beyers. He'll take care of you.

Look what arrived today

LCD-2's in pictures for scale reference, and to see how good the Antelope+Audeze look together....I think I will name my rig the A-team.

update:  ACTION SHOT!

(build quality feels very solid, the only gripe one could have on initial looks/build is the supplied power supply.  I will definitely be upgrading this in the future.  The power connector on the back actually screw/locks nicely so points for that.)  In regard to people saying how it is very light weight, it honestly feels very balanced holding it in your hands, and surprisingly has a bit of heft to it...some how.  Another thing is it looks a lot bigger in pictures than in real life.  Sound impressions to come later once I have let it run in for some time.
