Ergh. Ok. This is getting over my head. I'll have to consult with the person who'll be doing the actual building of this to see if he can help.

Thanks everyone.

Almost any type of pot or stepped attenuator can be used, as long as it's stereo, log taper, 10K to 50K ohms.

What does it really mean by log taper?

^great article title.

I've got an enclosure question...I'm thinking about finding a different enclosure for this since I find the hammond to be fairly boring. I'm thinking about putting the transformer in a separate box, but if I do that, does anyone know what size enclosure will fit the transformer + associated stuff?

Look at Par-Metal 20-series. Just a note, don't bother emailing them, just call.

Since the CK²III PCB has integral PSU, the only item that would be external is the transformer (and perhaps IEC inlet module, fuse and power switch). The transformer used for a CK²III is small, so you don't need a large case for it. In fact, you could do like I (and others) have done and build it into a "DIY wallwart" (available from Jameco). With this option, you don't need an IEC inlet at all. I also didn't bother with a power switch. When the wallwart is plugged in, the amp comes on. See the pics of my CK²III at the CK²III website gallery section.

EDIT: I can't find that empty wallwart shell at Jameco any more, but if you're industrious, you can find an existing wallwart (ones that are held together with screws instead of sonically-welded), empty its innards and stuff the transformer in it. Then, just re-cable it with something with a 4 conductors and an appropriate plug.
