Here in Tokyo you can audition IEM's at Yodobashi and BIC Camera but there is usually a huge crud of wax on it and most sensible people wouldn't want it anywhere near their ears.

Oh, my sources are listed in my signature. I i have a Sony NWZ-A729 digital walkman, and my home pc, just integrated audio.

I'm leaning towards the Klipsch Image S4, I have heard a lot of good things.

That they are comfortable, will fit my sound needs, and are more forgiving on recordings than other IEMS. If i'm leaving anything out feel free to add it in. I don't know how the S4's would compare to the iMetal 590s.

A user kindly suggested Philips SHE9850s, but I read a review that said the highs tended to be okay. Even though it's balanced armature, I don't know how much better overall it would be than the S4s.

Your thoughts welcome, I'm getting close to making a purchase.

erm what now?

the im-590 are nice but not even close to the RE-0

I did an audition and was able to compare the two and I thought the 590s sounded better on my own familiar recordings.

then i will assume there was something not right with the set of RE-0 you heard, the im-590 are good but not even close to RE-0 good in my opinion

+1. I really like the Im-590s, but I recognize that they aren't high-end IEMs. They do lots of things very well - extremely well - for their price, but (personal preferences aside) they just can't compete with the big dogs on the same level as the RE0 can overall.
