Device that connects drive and DAC?

Hello,

I wonder if there is any device I can use to send music from an USB hard drive to a DAC with USB input (like Lavry DA11, Grace Design m902, etc.).

I mean, you can plug your USB hard drive to a computer, and the computer to the DAC, but I suppose there could be a simple portable device that does the job of that computer, that is simply reading music data and sending it throw the USB cable to the DAC.

USB HDD > device? > DAC

Sorry if this question was already posted but I didn't know how to look for it.

Thanks!

A computer. Or media streaming device, such as Popcorn Hour.

Squeezebox Touch when it becomes available this holiday season should be able to do exactly what you're asking. It's on my Xmas list already

It seems quite big. I was thinking about something much smaller than a netbook.

It has a built-in DAC, but can an external DAC be plugget to it so the DA conversion is performed by the external DAC?

The touch (which is due for release in early december) has USB port for as big a drive as you can get on USB, and an SP/DIF output for up to 96Khz 24 bit output to a DAC. It also can act as a server to other squeezeboxes, and can share the drive via it's wireless networking, so you can send files to it without unplugging the drive.
