Amp3 VS nano+amp - Assistance required pretty please

Hi,

I have just bought myself the new Shure SRH-840 and now realise that its probably a good idea to upgrade my MP3 player or perhaps get a mini portable AMP for my MP3 player.
by the way Shure srh-840's are being sold here for £119.
Shure SRH840 Reference Studio Headphones | SALE Now On!

I currently have a ipod nano 3rd generation, and I have some Shure SE420. The reaons why I bought new headphones is, because I like new shiny things, but also because I find that the SE420 always come out of my ears, unless I put them realy raealy deep, but then the good BASS dissapears. Anyways, back to my question.

After reading a few threads on here it seems like if you want excellet quality audio from your player, you need an AMP or a decent mp3 player. I dont have any problesm with my Ipod, I mean I really love it, but I guess its because I dont know any better. Im really interrested in gettig the best possible sound, while on the move (usaully trains), for what I can afford.

So can I get away with just buying a little portable AMP for my ipod, or should I rather bite the bullet and get a better MP3 playe like the AMP3.

But whats holding me back from getting the AMP3, its the user interface, from what I read, its not very user friendly.

CAn anyone help with my condundrum or perhaps suggest other mp3 players, that have excellet sound, and okay user interface. Don't really care how the player looks one bit..

Or can I get away with just buying a portable for my nano, and what AMP would you guys suggest.

thanks in advance

The Amp3 is both an amp and a player and with the good price, the SQ, the small size, and the battery life it is solid choice. Then you could either amp the Nano and/or use the Amp3 alone.

That one would have been my choice also. I love the flat cable and it is a good value. If your Nano is black it be a nice looking little rig with a black Amp3.

if you hate the UI, you can use it as an amp as well

Whiplash do ship to the uk, shipping is quite pricey, but I have heard good things about Craig, so I just rolled with it.

I'd love to give you my opinion on the AMP, but mine will arrive on Monday

I'm not sure anyone does actually sell it in the UK just yet...

i actually have Shure SRH-840 and Amp3 pro1 combo (you'll be getting the pro2 though, not sure how much it's different). the synergy is pretty nice between the two though do yourself a favor and let Shures burn in for a while - out of the box they sounded like a nail scratching on a chalkboard. after about 70 or so hours of burn-in, it's pretty darn sweet and intimate sound.

one thing though - this combo produces the biggest bass "boom" (impact, i believe it's called around here) of all the cans i've tried on amp3. bigger than dt770 to my ears.

question: What is the best way to burn the headphones in. Can I just plug the shures into my pc and leave the music playing on all night ?

ulsanman: Can you let me know the UK reseller

thanks
