Higher end portable amps

Basically I already have I guess what could be considered a "mid-grade" cmoy amp tacked onto my iPod for portable applications, but I'm getting ready to run the iMod on the unit (throw in some high quality Black Gate caps) and I'd like to step up on my amplifier as well.

My challenge is this, build a higher-quality portable amp for less than $100 incl. the iMod parts (which just seems to be some silver wire, a couple caps, and a connector).

I had thought of building another cmoy with Black Gate or Nichicon Muse caps and a high-end opamp like a AD797 or OPA827 but I disliked having to do some of the tweaking with the AD797 and the glazing over the top end.

So I wondered over to Tangentsoft and found the PIMETA v2, and thus far I'm liking this design. Any experience with it? It pushes the boundaries of my price range but as long as it stays within the $100 neighbourhood, I'm ok with that.

I'd be open to other amps too, or going back to a cmoy with a good configuration if need be.

Any help is much appreciated.

Mini^3 for sure. They sound pretty good, especially for a portable. Listened to a HD580 driven by one at a friend's, sounded pretty good.

I'm looking over the Mini^3 and I'm liking its simpler design, not as much room for customization, but it seems like the recommended parts list is pretty well tested. I think this may be the one I look into, thanks guys.

Don't think you can get much "higher-end" than a good quality PPAS. If you can get your hands on one. I raffled off one to help fund the recent NorCal meet and if I finish another one this weekend, I'll do the same for the upcoming BurningAmp festival. Maybe you'll get lucky and win it. Otherwise, boards are not available. I have a couple amps left to finish building, may sell one if you want it, basically around parts cost, plus fees and whatnot.
