Would Metallica have been a better band with Dave Mustaine or with both Dave Mustaine and Kirk Hammett?


Scenario No. 1
Dave Mustaine (lead guitarist) was not fired in April 1983.



Scenario No. 2
Dave Mustaine was not fired in April 1983, but they also picked up Kirk Hammett as a second lead guitarist.

With Dave, I think Metallica would have stayed more aggressive and faster after MOP. I'm not sure if that means it would be necessarily much better (depending on the direction of the band) but definitely better than load, reload, and st.anger. Remember that Megadeth ditched metal and went hard rock in the mid 90's. With both Dave and Kirk in the band, Dave would probably (a) beat Kirk up or (b) leave the band.

They would have been a better band if they had some guitarist other than Kirk "whammy bar abuser" Hammett. Also if they had a drummer other than Lars.
