Nokia Phone and USB DAC

Hi All

There are some threads in this forum related to the use of Nokia N800 / N810 phones as portable sources using the usb connector as digital audio output (e.g., http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f15/no...killer-316007/).

but the conclusions are not clear.

Finally, it's possible to use these Nokia phones and connect them to an USB DAC? How?

It will only work if they can act as usb host devices like a computer and not just as slave devices as most daps/phones etc. does. And it requires that the operating system has sound drivers that wil handle an external sound device. I don't know any of this but would be highly sceptical until somebody can positively say that they done it or seen it done.
