independent instructions for Media Monkey?

I have little time for this kind of thing but I do like my portable music, so I want to be able to know/use all MM's facilities. I downloaded it some time ago after seeing so many recommendations here, and have just upgraded to Gold upon finding there was a built-in time limit on file conversion FLAC to MP3... Sneaky! But although I'm computer literate I find the MM interface intimidating and confusing; so far I have a modest library of music - but it's disorganised, with many albums split up into separate tracks for some reason (usually compilations though others are classical albums), all over the damn place, and many lack album cover art...
My MO is to rip CDs to FLAC using EAC (seems remarkably slow - is this normal?) for the main archive, convert to MP3 in a different folder, sync to my Sony NWZ-S638F.
I don't find MM's built-in Help very useful. I'd really appreciate a comprehensive guide to MM (latest v 3-something) that doesn't patronise me but which explains all the basic functions/tools succinctly. I can't afford to spend hours figuring it all out for myself by trial & error. Suggestions? Thanks

I don't know about any independent guides (e.g. Media Monkey for Dummies) but I do recognize at least one problem you're having.

I digitized most of music this spring using DBPoweramp for ripping and converting but organizing through Media Monkey. Media Monkey uses the tags to organize and it pays careful attention to them. For example, Guns and Roses will be separated from Guns & Roses, as well as Guns And Roses. Tagging carefully can avoid this.

I found DBPoweramp to have the best tagging because it uses multiple databases. This is especially helpful with classical music as the tagging can be all over the place. I also believe that DBPoweramp converts from FLAC to MP3 but I haven't used it for that (and you may need to pay for the upgrade, which is worth it if you're doing many discs).

Oh, one other thing. On compilations I found designating the "Album Artist" as "Various" or "Various Artists", or some such title, allows the compilation to be kept together. Keep the "Artist" designation as same on album, e.g. Sting, Madonna.
